Non-mandatory benefits

Definitions

Non-mandatory benefits are additional advantages that employers can provide to their employees on a voluntary basis, additionally to what is mandated by law. Such benefits are supposed to make employees happier at work, increase morale and cultivate a more productive workforce.

Any flexible working conditions (such as work-from-home or go to flex time, for example) can be considered non-mandatory benefits, as well as access to professional development options (e.g. through training programs/conferences, educational reimbursements etc.), wellness programs (gym memberships, mental health support) and employee recognition initiatives.

Additional employee benefits could also consist of extended leave options (like unlimited PTO, sabbaticals, or personal days), perks and discounts (exclusive deals and company products), social activities (team-building events), and financial benefits (profit-sharing, stock options, etc.).
